A little bit of meals, a splash of moonshine and a smattering of native shade enhance “No Stress,” a lackluster, lumbering Polish romantic comedy about discovering love and life stability by leaving the massive metropolis for grandma’s farm.

Cinematographer turned director Bartosz Prokopowicz (“Chemo”) and screenwriters Karolina Frankowska and Katarzyna Golenia construct this laugh-starved farce round a faked funeral, skilled sabotage and mistaken identities used to trick Chef Oliwa (Anna Szymanczyk) into giving up her culinary life in Wroclaw for backward, pastoral Bodzki, in rural Podlachia.

Oliwa tells us in voice-over (in Polish, or dubbed into English) about her “sizzling mood.” However contemplating all she’s put via as she drops every thing, begs for 2 days off from the boss, and will get her Mini caught within the mud on the best way to her beloved grandmother’s funeral, she maintains her cool.

Particularly contemplating that grandma Halina (Anna Seniuk) pops up in her coffin and snaps “I needed to discover out should you had been unhappy to see me go!”

That’s the form of factor that solely occurs in rom-coms, Polish or in any other case, titled “Nic na Sile” or “No Stress.”

When granny doubles-down after re-introducing frivolously exasperated Oliwa to the farm by disappearing, leaving her career-woman granddaughter holding the bag, we’d count on extra of a meltdown than Oliwa ever delivers.

In spite of everything, this can be a busy time again on the restaurant, which is nearly to increase. It was a trouble attending to “the literal center of nowhere,” and a part of that trouble was with this redhead (Mateusz Janicki) who blocked the one-lane bridge Oliwa was attempting to cross, and who helps out on the farm. Supposedly that is Wojtek and never the herb grower Kuba who, along with his father, try to get their palms on the farm and put Halina out of enterprise.

Oliwa finds herself sucked again into this life and all this drama regardless of being livid at her conniving granny and granny’s paramour (Artur Barcis) and never being all that eager on the life lesson they’re attempting to show her.

“Generally, you’ve acquired to do one thing dangerous to do one thing good.”

Say what?

The colourful, cute neighbors aren’t all that colourful or cute. The mistaken identification factor is dragged out when aspiring pop-singer Wojtek — the actual one (Filip Gulacz) returns and is enlisted within the scheme.

The Polish singing — pop, funeral dirge and people — is a pleasant contact. However the misadventures with geese and goats and whatnot are weary tropes of the “again to the land/farm” comedy style.

Like most each different ingredient of the image, it’s all been performed earlier than and played-out. So even when the celebs had nice, caustic chemistry — which they don’t — “No Stress” was by no means going to shock or delight .

And a comedy with no urgency, edge or stakes isn’t a lot of a comedy, with or with out “stress.”
